Life Can Change in the Blink of an Eye for Better or Worse… Morning News Read On 7/7/25

Daily writing prompt
Are you seeking security or adventure?

When it comes to Security – Consider the perspective of Steve Jobs, the CEO of Apple and one of the richest individuals in the world, who sacrificed much of his personal life for business success. His final thoughts on success and financial security were poignant: “I reached the pinnacle of success in the business world. In the eyes of others, my life is seen as an epitome of success. However, aside from my work, I have little joy. In the end, wealth is just a fact of life that I have grown accustomed to. In this moment, lying on my sickbed and reflecting on my life, I realize that all the recognition and wealth I once took so much pride in have faded and become meaningless in the face of my impending death. Material possessions can be replaced, but there is one thing that can never be found once it is lost…LIFE!

The Prompt portion on Adventure – We all have dreams of grand vacations, whether they be getaways to lake or shore homes, mountain retreats, or travel destinations around the globe that pique our interest. This applies to my wife, family, friends, and just about everyone else. We visited Italy in September of 2015, and it was such a memorable trip of a lifetime. However, imagine that less than a year later, much of central Italy was devastated by earthquakes on August 24, 2016. My point is that life can change in the blink of an eye. Read ON!

PPoint to Ponder: This week, as we enjoy the festive celebrations of the 4th of July—whether at beaches and resorts, backyard parties, or evening fireworks displays—we are reminded that unexpected events can change lives in an instant. In California and Texas, many people prepared joyfully for fireworks; however, in California, there was an unexpected explosion. Additionally, severe flooding caused rivers to rise dramatically—by 26 feet in just 45 minutes—leading to lasting impacts on families, churches, schools, friendships, and communities. For some, these tragedies may take a lifetime to overcome. Let’s keep them in our prayers and remind our kids and loved ones daily of their importance.

Life can change for better or worse in the blink of an eye, so it’s crucial to check your priorities and focus on what truly matters. Constantly pursuing investments, earnings, and the feeling of always needing more can distance you from your family and make you miss out on significant moments. Remember that looking forward to vacations, trips, summer camps, and other adventurous outings only provides temporary fulfillment. May you and your family have a Safe and Happy Summer!!
