Daily Prompt: Do you believe in soulmates? Why or why not? 6/7/26

John 3:16 Be thankful, grateful, patient, charitable, kind, and don’t forget to smile, as it is infectious. God Bless America and Protect Our President and Military!

Having met my wife now of fifty-plus years at the young age of 16 in 1972, I would have to say, yes!

We met through friends of my late brother Larry, and something about her clicked right away, like no one I ever met before or since. We went to two different area High Schools. In her words, and after my Catholic grade school years, I became a “Publican”, a term learned by the good Sisters that taught us.

I was a SW Philly transplant to Drexel Hill midway through 7th grade. She, on the other hand, had never lived outside of Drexel Hill until about 8 years ago, when we moved to Marple Twp.

I was outgoing and a people person; she was quieter and shyer when we met. We broke up for about a year, but with my late brother Larry playing matchmaker, we reconnected during the holiday season of 1973. I can still see her and her best friend, Terry (who would later be our Best Man and Matron of Honor, respectively, at our wedding), baking Christmas Cookies in her kitchen when we arrived. Four kids, 8 grandchildren, 3 houses, and three family legacy books published later, the rest is history. Oh! The butter press and chocolate chip cookies were delicious!

Well, that is my “Yes” behind the story. When you meet a couple who got married young and, many years later, are still together and the apple of each other’s eye, you start to wonder if outside forces have had a hand in your meeting. The reason it just doesn’t happen that way for everyone!

So, you be the judge and let me know your feelings on this topic.
