John 3:16 – Be thankful, grateful, patient, charitable, kind, and smile, as it is infectious. God Bless America; protect our president and Military!
Where do I begin? The younger generation that went through Covid 19 from 3- 14, doing Zoom lessons, wearing masks, and social distancing I think we all agree- are still navigating their way through it. Kids who were taught to accept being plugged in all the time and are addicted now to gaming, phones and I pads. It creates a challenge for those parents to set time limits and make them get out and socialize in person or get involved in social activities at school or within their communities.
The GenZ’s as whole main complaint from both sides is they go nowhere without being plugged in to their phones; sometimes even to the point while driving in their cars, at the gym, the bar or even while even out on a dinner date.
Now other things that have been lost to certain extent since the loss of trade school, single parent households and the like many young to middle aged people were never introduced or took the time to learn home economics skills or trade skills in navigating their way in saving money by cooking at home and fixing minor household issues in regard to general maintenance.
My advice to those raising kids about the benefits of not having so called “Boy or Girl” jobs. As my father used to say to us when it came to cleaning or my sisters when it came to fixing…”Grab me that dictionary and look up the word, “Job”! Let me know if outlines girl of boy jobs? “
Teach your children to be self-sufficient both in the kitchen and navigate their way around the use of basic tools – Hammer, Nail, Screws (Phillip’s head, Hex, and panhead bits) Caulk gun, Screwdriver, Drill, Circular Saw, Paint Tape, Brush and Rollers, especially in today’s world where marriage seems to be put on hold as an institution.
Girls not to single you out but seriously you control the fate of the marriage and for that matter the divorce institutions as a whole. Don’t take my word just ask any priest, judge or lawyer.
What basic skills would you say are being lost? Oh! I can’t wait to hear some of your responses!
