Mine would be George Bailey in -It’s a Wonderful Life due to the many parallels both real and imagined in his life. I true family man who would do almost anything to protect family and friends and not be jealous or envious if any of them made a life of note.
Like George and Mary Bailey, we had four children and being married at 19 there were many sacrifices in order to buy our first house at 21. Though that being said we always managed to have Christmas for the kids and the various holidays, as well as, getting away for a vacation at least for a few days if not for a week during the summer vacation.
Both hard working, religious, with absolute conservative views and values especially, by today’s standards. We bleed Red, White and Blue through and through and have lived through some of the stresses they faced in their lives. We both have amazing wives who pitched in to make extra money and a family that supported us. We raised children to have that same work ethic and who are admired. We have friends that were mailmen, police and others who worked in all walks of life. Most of them in middle-class America and many who shared the same values.
Like our parents and grandparents before us in their generation to share that faith and give them a chance to have more opportunity, a better education, skills learned and to build a life that gives them better opportunities to pass on to their children.
If so to pay it forward and never brag or boast by remembering their roots and the struggles of the family to get them to where they are in life and without complaint. Nobody in our family ever liked a whiner but have great appreciation of those who show great character when things don’t necessarily go their way but rather use it as a learning tool by rolling up their sleeves and getting to work.
