I saw a loving son take his father to church today; like so many Sundays before. His gentle hand on his back belt loops; leading him quietly in step ushering him to their pew.
He leaned in whispering loving, caring words; helping him gently to the pew; with loving pats on the back like someone else I knew.
I watched this scene play out; the times we make the 9:30 mass. To a place with a group up front; to follow the orchestrated sign language hands for the deaf.
Both filled with pride and admiration as if no one else was there; just focusing on the Word, as if the Lord was standing there. He helped his father up to stand; at those appointed times during mass. Always in a gentle caring way that exuded from these two men of class.
Some days he helped his father during services; as with the elderly when nature often calls. Assuring him, this loving son, that it was no big deal at all.
You can tell he used that same care in helping him to dress; to attend this important outing without any fuss or stress. In this act of loving humility and kindness; and always with great respect.
For this man, by his son, for his greatly admired dad in a lesson for us to learn; that every child and parent should someday come to earn. In closing I know they live within our Parrish; but we don’t know their names. We do however know the character for this son, for his dad, as I felt the same.
It reminded me of my admiration for my dad now been long gone; but his memory still remains in scenes like as life goes on. As I watch this loving, admiring son, under His eyes to claim. I admire and respect him though I don’t even know his name.
This story I figured I’d share as they never would; but this tribute is to this loving son whose father raised him well and that my friend is good!
Below pictures of my dad still long missed especially on days like today where in memory I reminisce. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
