Well, this is a loaded question and one that is sure to get me into trouble with some of my readers.
*** The following are my opinions only, and if you disagree, that is the freedom granted to you and me in the Bill of Rights. ***
We live in a world that is vindictive and, at times, goes against things I was raised to believe. Your handshake is as good as your word; this nation was founded on Christian beliefs based on the Ten Commandments, as supported by the teachings of the Old and New Testaments. Also, political views or votes should never be discussed or shared outside the home. Hopefully, we have all learned the importance of these past 12 years. However, this prompt or Op-ed is asking me, the author, to expound on the question.
My problem is not a single individual but an entire shift of a major political party in America from Democrats of my youth, Truman, JFK, and even Bill Clinton, although he orchestrated the WFTO, which led to the Socialist agenda they have today.
So, rather than name those I strongly disagree with, I will try to do so more subtly. Our world has changed, and the late-night talk show hosts of Parr, Carson, Huntly, and Brinkly, Morrow, Cronkite, Snyder, and the newscasters of my youth have all but disappeared. It seems that those who were marginalized or living in the cracks of society of my youth have now taken control, with the help of Hollywood, to be front and center in all our differences and discussions. Don’t take my word, just look at every television show or commercial over the past twenty years, well, at least since Seinfeld.
They were replaced by the likes of Timothy Leary, Madeline O’Hare, and Jerry Springer, and the so-called “Reality TV” may be in California, but not in my world. This agenda challenged the system and sought to remove the 10 Commandments from courthouses, to get “E Pluribus Unum” (In God We Trust) removed from our currency, etc. By the way if GOD doesn’t trust it neither do I.
Socialist ideas started taking hold in the news media, Hollywood, on late-night talk shows, on the radio, in music, and in our culture. Any form of censorship was removed, other than in Parochial schools, religion flew out the window like a kite on a windy day, and you lost the string. A culture of anything-goes prevailed, with the worst of humanity the talk of the town and in the spotlight, as anything normal or a feel-good story was now boring or unremarkable.
The more extreme, darker, and sublime side of society was given a platform to speak under the guise of “Reality TV.” Something that wasn’t my or our parents’ reality growing up, for sure. These stories became news as they drew an audience to what started out as laughs, but talk shows, Hollywood, and news became the leaders of the book “The Lord of the Flies”, and anarchy started to rule the “Boob Tube”, and man did they show up.
I almost feel we are now living in a real-life movie version of “Wag the Dog” with, of all people, star Robert DeNiro. Who said he wanted to punch the President-elect of the United States in the mouth. …Crazy! Regardless of right, wrong, or indifference, the rules of law, religious and otherwise, were thrown aside and replaced with DEI, BLM, CRT, and anything else the left dreams up; their Russian Collusion hoax and can sell it as the norm.
New Bulletin – Per God Our Almighty Father -All Life Matters, just take the time to ask HIM. Your story and history aren’t more important than other nationalities’ journeys to this state, place, and time. As far as holding the “GoldMedal” for enslaved, hated, and killed in the millions for thousands of years, I think we can all agree the Jewish people hold that ungodly crown. The oppressed Irish, Italians, Chinese, Germans, and many others who migrated here AFTER the Civil War don’t want to hear any bitching, as our ancestors weren’t here and have stories of their own.
So, if your city, state, or town here in America doesn’t offer what you need to grow, hop a bus, hitch a ride, take a train, sit in a class, join a trade school, or construction site as a walk-on in another town that offers you the chance. STOP! Blaming someone else or feeling sorry for yourself or your family for their failures. Take RESPONSIBILITY FOR YOUR LIFE! Then go and live it without whining, as nobody likes a whiner.
I am a fan of teachers and the job they do as a whole. However, the teachers’ union should stop using the steps in our children’s education as a breeding ground to push its own personal agendas. Stop parading around for more funding for failed schools in these Sanctuary cities and municipalities. Focus on improving STEM scores relative to other countries, keeping politics out of the classroom. Let’s get back to the basics: Teaching the 10 Commandments as rules for any civilized society; respect at home and at school; respect for the law; taking responsibility for our actions and their consequences; and community service. Leave politics and political views out of it, as that’s the parents’ job.
Remember, the only thing you are technically qualified to teach is the field you were educated in and only at that level – elementary, middle school, high school, college -bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral levels. The same goes for college professors. You wouldn’t want your trained carpenter, electrician, plumber, or general contractor teaching you anything other than their skill set. However, they may be as qualified as they actually live, work, and make their living creating those esteemed halls of education using their creative minds and hands.
We now have elected officials who think allowing people to cross our borders in the millions and unvetted is fine. The news media that demonize our president-elect and his cabinet, who are using the same speaking points dictated to them by foreign money interests. The Unions that literally run big city governments and have consistently funded only Democratic candidates have now opened the door to Socialism, Sanctuary cities, and the states. The problem today is that the vast majority of their own membership doesn’t even support this direction anymore. Personally, I think they’re too invested and ashamed to admit it.
We need to implement voter ID to ensure that only legal, living citizens can vote fairly in our elections, and to enable real-time voting via electronic paper ballots. By the way, Congress has been placing its votes that way for years, and you can watch live any day on C-SPAN. You must be born a citizen of the United States to run and hold office. Checks and balances need to be applied to our judicial system to hold judges accountable, so that repeat offenders do not get released from prison to commit further crimes. I think most, if not all, should agree on these long-talked-about issues.
The above is just my point of view and has no bearing on your character, and if you happen to disagree, feel free to disagree without resorting to TDS, as that will disqualify you and your opinions from any form of intellectual or reasonable civil debate.
