Be thankful, grateful, patient, charitable, kind, and don’t forget to smile, as it is infectious. God Bless America and Protect Our Military!!
Neither my wife nor I is a fan of hot, muggy, buggy, rainforest, jungle-like Ecuadorean atmospheres, especially at our age. No, we are more the four-season mountain, lake, country-setting type of folks along riverbanks or historic World Heritage Sites. We like to stay in hotels, motels, B&Bs, places that offer plenty of amenities, and places that know the lay of the land and the area’s points of interest, both on and off the beaten path. Country breakfast, pools, hot tubs, gyms, and spas are also nice.
We love adventure, just not in jungle environments. We ziplined on our trip to Alaska, 150′ in the air over streams where grizzly and Kodiak bears were feeding on dog salmon. We traversed the Mahay Devil River Canyon on a metal motorboat with views of Mt. McKinley, an Athabaskan village, and panned for gold while touring Denali National Park.
To sum things up, my wife and I prefer trips with stays in historic places that have a mixture of mountains, beaches, wineries, fine dining, and the like, whether here or abroad. Italy, we could go back tomorrow, and Ireland and the UK are on our bucket list. Maybe with fortune, a Viking cruise up the Danube or the Rhine would be very enticing. Sorry for drifting off the question, but I got caught up in the moment.
What would be a place you would have no interest in visiting? why?
