Daily Prompt: If you could be a character from a book or film, who would you be? Why? 4/5/26

Be thankful, grateful, patient, charitable, kind, and don’t forget to smile, as it is infectious. God Bless America and Protect Our Military

~~~ Happy Easter – He Has Risen ~~~
Maybe a character like George Bailey – I think I could relate to his life on different levels. My father had a stroke when I was two, which certainly changed my outlook on life. My wife and I might have met earlier at a Bonner computer dance in the early 70s if not for a goofy incident that prevented me from attending. We met at 16, fell in love at 17, and were married at 19. Four grown children and eight grandchildren later, after 50 years of marriage, we did okay. Though I didn’t know an Ernie Bishop, a taxicab driver, I did know a few police officers who could fit the role. Due to knee surgery, I was prevented from joining the armed services like our dads, both Army WWII veterans.
We all had friends like Sam Wainwright, who went on to carve out a very nice living for themselves with several houses, a mountain home, a shore home, and the like. God Bless them as they earned it! You see, in life, you get out of it what you put into it, and, like ice cream flavors, we all have different ideas of what constitutes a good life. We married early, had all four children, and purchased our first home by the age of 25. We were both strong in our Catholic faith and always seemed to get by, offering our children a fun-loving environment.
So, as George Bailey’s story is centered on Christmas and the promise and hope, our story will be centered on Easter and the promise fulfilled. After all, what more could parents wish for than for their children and grandchildren to have a good life and the ability to pay it forward someday? Yeah, our Clarences have done pretty right by us!
