A Childhood Dream Comes True

Daily writing prompt
What’s a job you would like to do for just one day?

When I was a young man, I dreamed of becoming a conductor, fireman, or policeman. As I entered my teenage years, I fantasized about being a rock musician or a baseball or football player, imagining the excitement of the crowd cheering for me. As I moved into middle age, I found myself drawn to the idea of becoming a carpenter, crafting fine furniture, or even a CEO for a day, wanting to experience the workings of a company.

In my fifties, I considered the possibility of becoming a Mayor, Senator, or even President, intrigued by the chance to influence and present my ideas to the public. We often believe that we could do these jobs better than those currently in power.

As I approach my sixties and feel a bit less energetic, I find myself inspired by the idea of becoming a winemaker, a poet, a guitarist, or an author. It seems like a fulfilling path to explore. However, you will have to wait until next year to see what new adventures await me as I step into my seventies.

Take time in your life to create lasting memories and leave the world with a smile. Carpe Diem! (Seize the Day)

Reminds me of a favorite poem by Robert Frost – The Road not Taken

“Two roads diverged in a yellow wood, and sorry I could not travel both; And be one traveler, long I stood, And looked down one as far as I could, to where it bent in the undergrowth;

Then took the other, as just as fair, And having perhaps had better claim, Because it was grassy and wanted wear; Though as for that the passing there, Had worn them really about the same.

And both that morning equally lay, In leaves no step had trodden black. Oh, I kept the first for another day! Yet knowing how way leads on to way, I doubted if I should ever come back.

I shall be telling this with a sigh, Somewhere ages and ages hence: Two roads diverged in a wood, and I– I took the one less traveled by, And that made all the difference.”
