John 3:16 (God so loved the world that He sent into it His only Son that through Him we may be redeemed)

Be Thankful, Grateful, Patient, Charitable, Kind, and smile as it is infectious!

In the words of my WWII Army Sgt. dad, when my older sisters or brothers would complain that – that job is for the girls or vice versa. He would then get the Webster Dictionary and look up the word “Jobs”. He challenged them to show him anywhere in the meaning of the word that it was being broken down into boy/girl jobs! That being said (READ ON)

  1. How to listen, read, comprehend, and follow directions, since everything learned comes from these three life skills.
  2. First Aid – Including life-saving basics like CPR and the Heimlich maneuver.
  3. Cooking – If you can follow rule number one, you can cook anything. Google any recipe, from Martha Stewart to dishes from your favorite cuisine. Check out these two sites: http://www.allrecipes.com and epicurist.com
  4. Basic Home and Care Maintenance – Mopping, Vacuuming, Dusting, Removing Clutter, Cleaning as you cook, Washing, Drying, and Putting Away Dishes, etc. Mow the lawn, rake leaves, and remove snow promptly.
  5. How to unclog a toilet or sink and more importantly how not to clog them in the first place!
  6. Sewing -We all had to learn to thread a needle and try our hand at mending buttons and split seams (which came in handy on my old baseball mitt). Well, you can’t beat the idea!
  7. Spelling… It’s become more underrated now, with devices that automatically clean things up or use text-to-speech. LOL, LMAO, TMI. Well, you get the idea.
  8. How to read a nutritional label. (More importantly, why you should)
  9. How to safely operate a firearm – Suggest taking a Gun Safety course
  10. How to tell an interesting story with proper diction and cadence to bring the words to life.
  11. Learned to use basic tools: hammer, slide rule, corner or T-Square, nails, Screws, Saws, screwdrivers (Phillips/panhead), Caulk/Caulk gun, sandpaper, and the difference between each grit finish. Learned about paints, Stains, Polyurethane, finishes, and the brushes, rags, pans, rollers, painter’s tape, and tarps; every house and car should have a roll of Duct Tape and zip ties, since they have so many uses.
  12. Power Tools – Leaf Blowers, Lawn Mowers, Weed Whackers, Drills, Sanders, Circular Saws, Routers, Snow Blowers, Power Washers. It never hurts to learn how to use and operate any and all of the above.

Added – Learning how to say “NO”/ Being Patient/ The ability to avoid toxic people/ reading social cues and not controlling the conversation!
