Daily Prompt: If you could have dinner with any philosopher, who would it be? 5/29/26

Be thankful, grateful, patient, charitable, kind, and don’t forget to smile, as it is infectious. God Bless America and Protect Our President and Military!

If I have to pick one, I would choose the other, as the two most important and relevant philosophers are equally recognized for their work. Needless to say, the Greeks own the market in forward thinking in Philosophy, Mathematics, Medicine, Culinary, and so much more, which was adopted by the Roman Empire. To the owner go the spoils of war, so to speak.

Aristotle – Often considered the greatest by historians, as his work established the foundations for both Western Philosophy and empirical science. He revolutionized nearly every field of human knowledge – Found the system of formal logic and reasoning, the empirical method in science, and the virtue-based approach to ethics. He created an all-encompassing framework that shaped Western thought for centuries, fundamentally departing from the idealism of his teacher, Plato.

Plato – Socrates most famous student and the founder of the Academy, whose work shaped Western metaphysics, ethics, and political theory. He is known for stating, ” The highest form of knowledge is Empathy, for it requires us to suspend our egos and live in another’s world.”

Third runner-up, Socrates – Though he never wrote anything down, his reasoning changed how humans seek truth.

Which Philosopher throughout history would you choose to have dinner with?
