Daily Prompt: What is your favorite holiday? Why is it your favorite? 4/27/26

Be thankful, grateful, patient, charitable, kind, and don’t forget to smile, as it is infectious.   God Bless America and Protect Our President, His Cabinet, and Our Military!!

Like many of us, for me it is the Christmas Season in general, not just the day itself. As a kid, it is about the potential to have Santa bring you that one gift you were dreaming about all year – A New bike, record player, tape recorder, sled, and the things dreams are made of.

As a Christian man of faith, it takes on a deeper, more profound meaning, one more grounded in HOPE. Our Lord and Savior has been born, and the nucleus of the Holy Family and the fulfillment of the promises foretold in the Scriptures for a millennium have been fulfilled. Rejoice!

Hopefully, we all have come to know the day itself; if we focus only on the material things, it becomes meaningless. In reality, you could pick any day or time of year to go into debt, spending a small fortune on gifts and preparing a big meal to share with family and friends.

So, if you haven’t, maybe this year, as you put up your lights, decorate your home, set up your tree, trains, and the like, take a ride around the neighborhood and ask yourself, WHY?

The Christmas season focus should never be on Santa Claus, Gifts, lights, attractions, wrapping Paper, decorations, the Christmas tree, or decorum at all. Those things are all well and good for kids, but to get caught up in just that part of the Christmas holiday season will do neither your kids nor the family nucleus an ounce of good in discovering what the day should be about and where your focus should be.

Your life, your call, your family, but statistics show those who grew up with faith have fewer issues with drugs, alcohol, and other detractions of the human spirit.

So, as an author of two Christmas holiday stories, I try to establish the focus on the true meaning of Christmas. Jesus is the only true reason for the season!

Rule to Live by: Faith, Family, Country, Friends!
