Prompt: What’s your favorite month of the year and why? 11/11/25

God Bless ALL who serve or have served Our Country. May they, like you, have a safe, happy, and honored Veterans Day. If you see a veteran, be sure to thank them for their Service! God Bless

September – I am, and always have been, a “Fall Guy”! The why behind the response —as if I needed to explain it to you, good folks. At the beginning of the month, beaches are less crowded, stores and venues are still open, and renting is half the cost as during the summer vacation season. Kids are back to school, off their phones, meeting new friends while catching up with old ones, and, like the seasons themselves, readying for growth and changes by exploring new possibilities.

In baseball, they head into the playoffs and on to see who will be in the World Series (Sorry, Phillies, but we did lose to the world champion Dodgers). Soccer (Go Union), with the excitement of our city hosting the World Cup next year. The hockey season starts (Go Flyers!), and the basketball season begins (Go 76ers) almost simultaneously with our Super Bowl-winning world champions, the Philadelphia Eagles, with things looking very hopeful for a repeat.

As we head deeper into September, there is a feeling of change, and the coolness at night brings new excitement to sitting outside around the fire pit with family and friends. As the leaves turn from green to a kaleidoscope of color, so too do Halloween decorations—pumpkins, haystacks, skeletons, ghosts, goblins, and witches —decorate the neighborhood. Kids are excited about what costumes they are going to wear and the best places to fill their bags with a variety of treats, with the only trick being how far and fast they can make the neighborhood rounds. You have orchard outings, pumpkin patch or apple-picking hayrides, and some are themed for the season, with haunted houses, ghost tours, or other scary venues —not for the faint of heart. Then, as Halloween approaches, the candy and bric-a-brac dwindles from the shelves, they are quickly replaced with Thanksgiving and Christmas candy, cards, and decorations for things to come.

This leads me to ask for your help in sharing, liking, and, most importantly, writing and posting a review for the two books below.
