Daly Prompt: What makes you laugh? 3/27/26

Be thankful, grateful, patient, charitable, kind, and don’t forget to smile, as it is infectious. God Bless America and Protect Our Military!

Many people, both in our inner circles of friends and family, and those comedians of my youth, such as Johnny Carson, Steve Allen, Jay Leno, David Letterman, George Burns and Gracie Allen, Lucille Ball, Bill Crosby, Flip Wilson, Red Skelton, Don Rickles, Chris Farley, Phil Hartman, John Belushi, Dan Akroyd, Eddie Murphy, Richard Prior, Bill Murray, Gilda Radnor, Rodney Dangerfield, Carol Burnett, Billy Crystal, Steve Martin, Tim Conway, SNL Prime Time Players, Second City TV with the late John Candy being a personal favorite and many more, whose clean humor of our censored time transcended much of today’s humor where curse words infused skits seem now to draw laughter?

However, funny clean comedians over the past years, e.g., Ellen DeGeneres, Ray Morano, Larry David, Jerry Seinfeld and cast, Brian Reagan, Sebastian Maniscalco, Nate Bargatze, Dave Chappelle, Whitney Cummings, Leanne Morgan, Brad Upton, Jeff Allen and Jeff Klett and one of the funniest men alive the Late John Panetta from right here in Delco, PA to name just a few of our favorites.

We like jokes and good-natured humor as much as anyone. However, we still find that the funniest and most memorable are those who can be funny with clean or suggestive humor and leave you, the listener, to add the implied. I am sure I left out a few of your favorites, like Bill Burr or others who use a lot of interlaced curses, most of which are probably not needed to be funny.

Who is your favorite comedian, male and female?
