Be thankful, be grateful, be patient, be charitable, be kind, and don’t forget to smile, as it is infectious. God Bless America and our Military!
My thoughts on my political views and the major issues today that surround them. We live in a world today where we can’t seem to have a civil debate, and with the pretext of, “I’m smarter or more learned than they are and think I can change their mind if they just hear me out!”
As a product of growing up in the mid-50s through the 60s and beyond, I don’t ever remember the newsman of my youth imposing their political views. The same could be said of most new printed materials, e.g., The Philadelphia Bulletin (best paper ever), The Inquirer, etc. It’s not that they didn’t have it, but it was kept to one section called the Op-Ed page, in a point-counterpoint fashion, with no name-calling, just opinions. Somewhere along the way, we lost that aspect of civil debate, and I might add our moral compass.
I remember in an interview with the late, great television host Johnny Carson, when asked by then news anchor Mike Wallace (the father) on 60 Minutes, a liberal leaning commentary show, like most things that Hollywood has a hand in, and the liberal leaning left Social and News Media outlets of today. I believe this may also be the main reason for choosing his successor, Jay Leno, who was chosen over David Letterman, who chose the other path. I agree with Carson’s take on this, especially for anyone in the entertainment field, such as actors, musicians, and the like. I think entertainers like Colbert, Kimmel, Fallon, The View, CNN, MSNBC, CBS, NBC, ABC, PBS, and the like can all learn from the king of television.
