Daily Prompt: What advice would you give your teenage self? 2/21/26

Be thankful, be grateful, be patient, be charitable, be kind, and don’t forget to smile, as it is infectious.

This question is an enigma to me, as in the rule of physics, for every action there’s a reaction, and it can have a positive or negative result to your hypothesis. So, having just celebrated a planned surprise renewal celebration bash held by our children, with our son Dan holding court on vow renewal. In front of over 100 family and friends, we had an amazing night that even outdid our original small wedding ceremony 50 years ago. We once again, with family, children, grandchildren, and friends witnessing our continued love over the past 50 years. That, especially by today’s standards, is a pretty amazing run, considering we met at 16 in 1972.

I guess what I am saying is that if you are lucky enough to catch the brass ring on the first or second pass and smart enough to recognize it, hold on to each other and don’t let go. When asked what it takes, at least from my perspective, you need to invest in each other and not break the glue that holds it together. – Trust, Commitment, Loyalty, Faith, Work Ethic, Cherish and Defend It, no matter what. That being said, no marriage is perfect, and I tell people that if your hearts are in it, it may read like your 401(k) or an EKG at times, with all its ups and downs and highs and lows. Remember, the results stay in the same portfolio or on the same spreadsheet as Our Legacy! As for her perspective, I might add that I must’ve done something right all these years, as she hasn’t smothered yet!
