Prompt: What would you do if you won the lottery? 1/26/25

Live the year with thankfulness, gratitude, respect, patience, charity, and kindness; don’t forget to laugh and smile often, as they are infectious.

The first thing I wouldn’t do is tell everyone before doing several very important things.

Seek a Trusted Financial Advisor – How and where to move money, setting up trust funds, and asking whether it would be better, from a tax standpoint, to write our children as recipients so we each get a smaller share but lower the tax for everyone equally on their portions.

Get a trusted estate lawyer to handle all the details, including the protocol for reception, investment, will, and any legal issues that will surely pop up.

Change our phones and maybe lay low somewhere until the news blows over until the next big winner. Don’t spend any of it frivolously until all our ducks are in order.

Help family members and set up a tithing fund to support causes we feel are worthy, and if it is a lot, set up a food, scholarship, or shelter fund for those most in need. Maybe then rent a place in a warmer climate in winter, trade in and buy newer cars, travel at leisure, and hopefully do so without moving from our current home or changing our lifestyle too drastically. Wake up every day afterwards still thankful, grateful, and blessed, and remain happy with the man I see in the mirror.

Well, that’s all the bullets of reasoning I got in my holster of dreams for now! What would you do or do differently??
