Live the year with thankfulness, gratitude, respect, patience, charity, and kindness; don’t forget to laugh and smile often, as they are infectious.
I have always been fascinated by the life of Rick Steves, who gets paid to video and document his travels throughout Europe. He explores both major cities and small, off-the-beaten-path towns that offer real flavor and insight into how locals eat, live, have fun, and think. His work highlights the best places to visit, deals to look for, and the most effective ways to travel between destinations while still experiencing all the World Heritage sites. He shares tips on budgeting wisely, making friends, and seeing most attractions up close and personal without breaking the bank.
The other job would be that of Sandra Brown, who does the same throughout most of America and the Caribbean islands, in luxurious B&Bs, Inns, and resort areas of every tourist destination you can imagine. Her travels take you through the high life of food, pleasure, and entertainment, unlike Rick Steves, who shows you how to tour Europe on a shoestring budget.
Point to Ponder: The world is vast, and it is fascinating to explore different cultures, histories, tourist destinations, landscapes, and the people and their culture. However, as Dorothy said in The Wizard of Oz, there’s no place like home!
