Live the year with thankfulness, gratitude, respect, patience, charity, and kindness; don’t forget to laugh and smile often, as they are infectious.
Too many to count. However, this past weekend, 1/10/26, our children and grandchildren threw us a surprise 50th Wedding Anniversary and vow renewal bash. They have been planning for the better part of the year. They sent invitations and set the dates around my niece’s 50th birthday party, hosted by my brother and his wife, making it a complete surprise. Our eldest son, Dan, in front of all our family and friends, many of whom took the time to secretly travel to be at the event.
They all did their part: choosing the venue, the food menu, the open bar, the DJ, sending invitations, collecting RSVPs, and gathering the names and addresses of friends and neighbors. They planned a wedding basically for over 100 guests and pulled it off without a hitch. They had favors and decorum for each table, placards and flowers for each table, and a bridal bouquet our granddaughter made for my wife to commemorate the service. Our eldest granddaughter even managed to procure a wedding gown wrap. Our children and grandchildren left us beaming with pride and feeling very loved and appreciated.
All in all, in spite of the rain outside, it was an evening for the books, and one our guests and we will long be remembered. We laughed, sang, reminisced, and danced the night away with family and friends. All got to take and share pictures of the evening, and they’re still pouring in!
