The next few days will be hectic with last-minute shoppers and travelers trying to reach their destinations. Take a moment to reflect on the holiday’s meaning and be mindful of others who may not share the same joy. Be Thankful, Respectful, Charitable, Patient, Kind, and don’t forget to smile!
Imagine a cabin nestled down a mountain road, leading to a clearing with a welcoming, small two-story Cape Cod-style door, flanked by two windows on either side, each overlooking a rustic, covered wooden porch. Each upstairs room has three perfectly appointed bedrooms, each with windows to take in the property’s views, with a shared bath. The rustic porch has a few well-placed rocking chairs, a bench swing to one side, a lounge chair on the other, and a few tables for resting your coffee, each with drawers to neatly stow away writing and reading materials for those inspirational moments.
The view from the porch or either window, for that matter, looks towards a mountain lake or pond, surrounded by a clearing that gently fades into the distant woods of birches, aspens, elms, maples, conifers, and more. In the distance, two inviting leaf-covered paths meander into the woods: one disappears around a bend, while the other splits in several directions before vanishing from view, yet both urge you to come and explore.
The back of the house is similarly appointed, facing East and West respectively for clear views of morning sunrises and evening sunsets. Inside a small kitchen, powder room, and a living space with seating and tables, looking out the various front, side, and back windows and door. The living room features a wood-burning stove as the focal point on colder days and nights. Also, a boathouse that stores ATVs, sleds, canoes, kayaks, fishing rods, reels, and similar equipment for all-season use, with a carpenter’s workshop in the back. Leading down from there to the waterside fire pit is a stone-lined path where Adirondack Chairs, log-hewn benches, and outdoor tables are positioned for viewing wildlife, fishing, and enjoying moments with family and friends.

The Holiday Season has always been special, especially as an author of two timeless and beloved Philadelphia Holiday Stories. There’s still time to get some copies for family and friends before Christmas.
