Prompt: What skills or lessons have you learned recently? 12/11/25

There are 13 shopping days left until Christmas! During the hustle and bustle of the holidays, be patient, thankful, grateful, charitable, kind, and make sure to laugh a lot and smile even more.

We planted 2 apple, 2 cherry, and 1 peach tree over the past 6 years. I have been learning how and when to prune and shape the different varieties of fruit trees. Over the past few years, after numerous articles and videos on how to do it, it has become a time-consuming process every Fall or late winter. The trees can’t be pruned in the first several years, and only after numerous days of a hard frost. The need to be treated afterwards with Fruit Orchard Spray to keep pests from taking up residency in the bark in both Fall and Spring, before blooms. Treated with fungicide, Neem oil, as well as fertilizing the tree roots and removing suckers.

The bonus is that my daughter gets fruit wood for their smoker grill. I’ve also noticed that when my kids are here with their dogs, the dogs really enjoy chewing on the fruit wood.

As a general rule, any branches that grow into the tree leader or are crossing should be removed. Additionally, fruit grows on new wood, so it’s important to prune in a way that allows future buds and branches to expand outward.

The goal is to shape the tree into a pyramid, creating a bowl effect in the middle. This design allows for proper airflow once the leaves appear and the fruit begins to form, helping to prevent spotting, mold, and fungus. Aren’t you glad you asked as now you too have an answer to this prompt! LOL

The Holiday Season has always been special, especially now as an author of two Philadelphia Holiday Stories. The window of time to offer my esteemed customers my two written contributions to the literary world is short. So please consider Liking, Sharing, and Reviewing.

Both are cheaper than a pizza pie, and your family and friends will enjoy them for years to come. Heck, even the E*read and Audible versions are under $4, and cheaper than a bottle of water at the movies.

So, please consider purchasing the book, e*read, or the Christmas story on Audible? I’ve included for you and your family’s enjoyment a FREE LISTEN! Click on Link – http://www.A-Glimpse-From-Christmas-Past@Audible.com
