Hope you have a marvelous day. Smile, be kind, charitable, and considerate.
My wife and I usually have anywhere from 18 to 25 family and friends for Thanksgiving and Christmas dinner. I can assure you, as with all who bring their favorite dish to share, that they put love, care, and effort into prepping each dish. We all put our best foot forward for these celebrated occasions.
My wife usually makes two homemade apple and pumpkin pies, with fresh whipped cream, for these meals. That, along with the shopping, decorations, selecting the freshest vegetables, and the like, picking out the perfectly sized turkey(s) or ham, and setting the perfect table, is a complete exercise in love. This happens through the tag-team effort of myself and those who prep a dish for the table or help with getting ice, maybe a last-minute forgotten item, and drinks.
However, two items I am personally requested to make are my candied sweet potatoes and the coveted of every holiday meal, my homemade eggnog, slightly tweaked from a recipe from my wife’s aunts. Made with real ingredients, and the cream, milk, and egg needed for the recipe come in a carton.
Footnote – Our son and his wife are hosting this year’s Thanksgiving for the second time, and our daughters have taken over making the desserts and the thing the kids look forward to, the Mac N’ Cheese

I wrote and published two Philadelphia Holiday stories, and I think your family and friends will enjoy them for years to come.
