Have a great start to your week. Tomorrow, don’t forget to vote, and have a safe and productive day! Don’t forget to smile and be kind
I can only speak about dogs, as growing up, that’s all my wife and I ever had. You learn quickly that if you treat the dog well —caring, loving, and attentive —as a pet owner, you receive in return unconditional love. A family member who is always happy to see you and sad to see you go! Our grandsons, John and Luke, have a dog named Buddy and a bearded dragon named Lizzo, both of which their family loves.
I imagine cat owners feel the same, and as a kid, I had white mice, newts, fish, and the like, but nothing compared to our blue-blooded named shepherd, Sir Tux of Rosemont. It got too big at about 18 months old, and my father, being semi-paralyzed by a stroke, let my older brother Joe and his wife Peg have him. It was traumatic for me at the time, as we had spent a good bit of time together since he was a puppy. My wife had a dog growing up, a part beagle and part basset hound named Skipper the Wonder Dog. When her dog died, she was so upset that, “It was like losing a sibling adding that…I would never want our kids to go through the trauma of such a loss”.
That being said, we are now the proud grand-dog-parents to two dogs. My son Mike and his wife Amy brought their three girls a dog named Jack around last Thanksgiving. He’s mainly part dachshund, Mini pinscher, and Chihuahua. Then, a few weeks later, our daughter Kate and Roger showed up with Willie the Wonder dog, we guess named after my wife’s dog Skipper. He is also mainly part Beagle, Bassett Hound, Australian Shepherd, among other things. They are both greatly loved by all.
