Prompt: How much would you pay to go to the moon? 10/18/25

Enjoy time with family and friends. Have a great Fall Day, get out and kick some leaves around, and don’t buy into the madness.

This may be my shortest and most straightforward answer, and it applies to stars, other planets, or distant galaxies: NOTHING!

Don’t get me wrong; my friends and family know that I enjoy amateur photography, and I often refer to myself as a “LUNAtic.” However, there are still so many things I want to see here on good old Terra Firma, and I’m excited about what this marvelous, big “Blue Marble” of a planet has to offer, first and foremost. As for the Old Man in the Moon, he can keep smiling down, or no pun intended, moon me right from my nearest window or my own backyard. My prayer is that the Good Lord doesn’t allow one of these nutty leaders to blow it all to hell in one of those. If I can’t have it my way, I am going to take my ball and go home like a little kid.

I love watching the moon rise every night. I/we appreciate the beauty of solar and lunar eclipses, as well as the different phases of the moon—whether it’s a quarter, half, two-thirds, or a full moon. We also admire the special types of moons, such as the Blue Moon, Harvest Moon, and Blood Moon, along with their names and phases, as recognized in the world of celestial science of Astrology and Astronomy. My wife and I truly enjoy these awe-inspiring sights on cloudless nights, especially in our own neighborhood or from the boardwalk over the ocean. However, at our age, we feel it’s best to skip traveling to special locations to see them, especially on a long rocket journey into space, wearing a suit that pumps in oxygen to breathe. And don’t get me started on the food, the bathroom facilities, and the lack of atmosphere. In our esteemed opinion, you go ahead, and we will catch up with you later on the other side of things – Maybe?

Point to Ponder: Some things are beautiful to admire but not worth the trouble and aggravation to reach, like the Moon, stars, or the top of Mount Everest. Just thinking about the snacks, luggage, and amenities we would need to pack is quite exhausting.

“Hey, hon! Look at that comet’s tail! While I throw another log on the fire, could you grab us another glass of wine along with some cheese, crackers, and grapes?” Ah! Thanks, this is the life.
