Prompt: What alternative career paths have you considered or are interested in? 10/17/25

Have a wonderful day that extends throughout the weekend. Remember, spread good cheer and leave them with a laugh and a smile.

I must admit, I really enjoy this question. Three things I always pictured myself doing if the opportunity arose.

  1. I would love to be a voice actor for animated films or cartoons.
  2. Be a professional voice reader for audiobooks.
  3. Try my hand at situation comedy.

Point to Ponder: Whatever it is you would love to do as a career path or one that interests you, give it a shot while you’re young and up to the task. I was always motivated by those who said things like,” You’re not smart enough, you won’t be good at that, or you’re not capable or can’t!” If that were the case, I never would have written poetry or published three books to date, sat at the table with paupers and presidents, movers and shakers, played guitar and sang to entertain folks in my mediocrity as a guitar player, and been interviewed on radio and television in the business world.

My learned advice is that not everyone is book smart; not everyone brilliant and well-read can fix a leak, make a table and benches, wire a house, and excel at DIY projects. Everyone has talents, don’t ever “ASSuMe” and pursue your passion, not your parents. More importantly, be honest, kind, and compassionate, and success will follow, regardless of what you put your mind or hands to in life. Treat everyone the way you want to be treated. Don’t forget to pay it forward, stay true to yourself, so that through life, you can always be happy with the person who looks back at you every morning in the mirror.
