Happy Columbus Day! Have a great day
Ever since a severe football knee injury on Thanksgiving Day of my Senior year, I have put off many things I thought that I would like to try. When I questioned my Orthopedic doctor at the time about engaging in activities like skiing, water skiing, and other sports that require knee movement, his response was quite prophetic. He said I wouldn’t recommend it unless you want to see me much earlier than needed, adding, “How is your golf game, and if you haven’t played the game, would you consider it?” I said, “Well, I guess sky diving is out too?” He responded, ” Yes, but at least if we get into a war, you won’t have to worry about being drafted!” Oh! Mental note: joining the army like my WWII father and my two older brothers is a bad idea!
Point to Ponder: I never let my injuries hold me back from doing too much. I attribute much of my resilience to divine intervention. I met the girl of my dreams 53 years ago and haven’t looked back since; we have a wonderful life together! Aside from a few recommendations from the doctor many years ago, life has been pretty good!
