Although yesterday, like many days, was similar, they all begin with me in a grateful prayer of thanks for being able to wake up to the new day’s challenges, opportunities, and experiences. Many of us share the same morning routines, such as showering, dressing, eating, planning, or getting kids ready and helping them into their daily routines.
Today was different from yesterday because we picked more tomatoes from the garden. Today is trash day, while yesterday was not, and tomorrow will be our recycling day. The point is that even in the small things we experience each day, there are differences. Most of us do not wear the same clothes as we did yesterday. You will probably eat differently today than yesterday, too. Someone who worked yesterday might be off today, making other non-work-related plans, while others, like me, are retired and plan things as they come. Don’t be jealous; retirement will come faster than you think. My advice is to focus on living in the moment and in the words of someone I greatly admire, “leave tomorrow for tomorrow because today is enough unto itself. Don’t be anxious.”
Yesterday, we went shopping and spent the evening at the pool. Today, I’m playing music with friends and dog-sitting for our daughter tonight. I’m also in the final stages of publishing my book, which has involved months of writing and going through the process. Today, I’m focused on finalizing the details with the publisher.

No day is insignificant or small; each one brings changes. If you don’t believe me, just look in the mirror.
