The headline may sound simple to express but living it each day is much more challenging. Nevertheless, we strive to make it work. No one wants to argue over minor issues that often seem more significant. In reality, they’re usually not. Having been married for nearly 50 years, I often tell couples that the toughest part of marriage is figuring out when and how to avoid unnecessary arguments while learning to live together day by day.
Life is like a dance, resembling an EKG with its ups and downs. We sometimes step on each other’s toes as we learn the rhythm of each new step. Yet, out of love for our partners and for the dance itself, we keep moving forward. We all strive to perfect our dance, and at times, we feel we have mastered it. However, we soon realize that setbacks are inevitable, and we must adjust our rhythm as we age to stay in sync. Ultimately, the music will come to an end, but we give thanks and cherish the memories we created while it played, savoring every step we took along the way.
