We are not world travelers by any means, but we have been to Canada twice, Alaska, with a cruise down the Inside Passage to Vancouver, and Italy, which to date has been our favorite. My wife and I have seen a significant portion of the USA, but we have yet to visit the Grand Canyon. My wife and I share a passion for history, mountains, and beaches, particularly in wine regions that offer additional points of interest.
We’re not particularly interested in island cruises or very hot destinations, such as the tropics. However, a Mediterranean cruise or a river cruise on the St. Lawrence, Rhine, or Danube Rivers sounds like it would be perfect for us. Neither of us enjoys dealing with bugs, mosquitoes, spiders, or wildlife in free-roaming areas. At our age, we’ve realized that we appreciate our amenities! There’s nothing wrong with more adventurous travels, though! If you want to explore the Amazon through jungles, visit parts of Africa along the Nile, or camp on a cliffside in the wilderness or get lost in the Everglades, that’s great—go for it! Just say hi to Wally Gator for us!
With peace in the world, a trip of a lifetime to see the Great Wall of China, the Taj Mahal, the Matterhorn, and the Great Pyramids would be truly impressive. However, the most interesting journey on our bucket list would be to explore the countries of the Holy Land. This region holds the keys to civilization and offers a profound religious experience. Unfortunately, it is also marked by conflicts surrounding these sacred places, cities, and towns. It resembles one large, highly dysfunctional family that has failed to learn from its history since the beginning of time.
