The Lord, Faces of My Past of Names Missed

Daily writing prompt
Who would you like to talk to soon?

At the top of my list are my parents. My father passed away just a few days before our first and oldest child was born; in fact, she arrived in the early morning hours of the day he was buried. He and my mother have always been my mentors and confidants, holding the most significant places in my heart. Throughout my life, I have encountered many people—friends, some of whom are now deceased, teachers, relatives, schoolmates, and neighbors—a whole range of individuals who come in and out of my life like scenes in a movie that seems to move too quickly these days.

I imagine that many of you responding to this question about life might refer to your younger selves. However, in my case, I know my younger self all too well—his strengths and weaknesses, his accomplishments and failures, his victories and losses, the happy moments and the sad ones, the things he did right, and the things he wishes he had done differently. My story may resonate with yours in some ways, or it might not. Life, much like books, comes in all genres, including fiction and nonfiction, sci-fi and fantasy, as well as macabre or horror, and themes of war and peace, history, and more.

Point to Ponder: Take a moment to look at the clock on the wall, your wristwatch, or the mantle. Notice if it seems to go backward. Time will continue to move forward with or without you, but how you choose to spend that time is entirely up to you. Simply sitting and watching time pass by can be unproductive. Remember, it’s never too late to change, learn, or experience life to the fullest. All it takes is the will and ambition to take action!
