My Career Path these days is of my own making

Daily writing prompt
What is your career plan?

My work journey began at a very young age. I started by mowing lawns in the summer and shoveling snow in the winter. I also helped a neighbor whose husband had passed away. She owned a Karastan rug business, and in the fall, she would pay me $5 per rug to mothball, roll, and hang them up in her basement for winter storage.

In addition to that, I worked for two summers at a local country club washing dishes when I was fourteen and fifteen. Once I got my driver’s license, I started driving prescriptions for a local pharmacy. A few months later, I landed a union job with the largest food supplier in the area. After 42 years, during which I held various roles within the company, I retired.

I’ve been exploring new activities that include helping my grandchildren when needed, playing music with friends (specifically guitar), making wine, and working on my third book, which is currently in progress. I’ve also enjoyed traveling to some wonderful destinations, such as California, Alaska, Italy, Yellowstone, the Mount Rushmore area, and many states along the East Coast, from Maine to Florida.

Career is about your current life stage and priorities in achieving your aspirations. My advice is to pursue your dreams; everyone has at least one good story!
